An armed man has reportedly been shot after police intercepted a stolen car during a crime spree north of Brisbane.
The Bruce Highway on the Sunshine Coast is blocked in both directions and one man is in custody.
Police tracked the man from Maryborough to Parklands on Wednesday morning after he allegedly stole a number of vehicles, wounding one woman during an attempted theft.
A police spokesman said the situation is still unfolding and has warned members of the public to avoid the area.
He refused to confirm that the man, who is known to police, had been shot during the incident.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed paramedics had been called to the scene but would not provide further details.
