Australian men held on drug accusations in Bali

Indonesian police have paraded two former Melbourne nightclub promoters in front of the media after the pair were arrested in Bali over an alleged cocaine trafficking operation.

The men have been named in media outlets as former Melbourne nightclub promoters William Cabantog, 35, and David Van Iersel, 38.

They were arrested on Saturday during raids of homes and nightclubs in the resort village of Canggu.

Police reportedly seized CCTV video from a venue where one of the men worked.

Nine News posted footage on Twitter of the two men, clad in orange prison clothes, being paraded before a media pack on Tuesday morning.

Footage was also posted of cocaine and scales police will use as alleged evidence against the men.

In a statement on Monday, Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed the arrests.

“We stand ready to offer consular assistance … should they request it,” the statement said.

Cabantog was a Melbourne nightclub promoter before moving to Bali. His Instagram account shows him dining and swimming with friends in Indonesia during the past year.

“So blessed to live in paradise and to have my friends to experience this beautiful island together,” he posted last month.
