Former William Tyrrell detective pleads not guilty

Former high-profile NSW police detective Gary Jubelin has formally denied allegations he conducted illegal surveillance.

Mr Jubelin was the lead investigator in the fresh search for three-year-old William Tyrrell until taken off the case earlier this year during misconduct investigations.

He was charged in June with four offences under the Surveillance Devices Act.

Mr Jubelin faced Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday, where his barrister, Margaret Cunneen SC, entered pleas of not guilty to all counts.

She said she wanted the brief of evidence served and the matter listed “without delay”.

The Sydney courtroom was standing room only, packed with Jubelin supporters.
