Three people have died and two have been rescued after a catamaran overturned off Newcastle on Thursday morning.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman has told the ABC the two survivors were a teenage girl and a man in his mid-40s. They have been transported to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
He said a rescue helicopter responded to a call from an emergency beacon.
There were rough seas and high winds in the area at the time.
