An innocent man has been killed after a stolen car ploughed head-on into his vehicle, killing him instantly, in Brisbane about midnight on Tuesday.
Tributes have flowed for 36-year-old Shahid Islam, who died when the speeding 4WD crossed onto the wrong side of the road at Bald Hills and hit his Mazda.
Mr Islam, who played local cricket for the Northern Stars, leaves behind a wife and four-year-old son.
The Bengal Warriors Cricket Club posted on Facebook that news of death was “very shocking”.
“May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah,” the club wrote.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the family and Northern Star team.”
Mr Islam was one of two people killed in the crash, which caused major delays for motorists.

The 32-year-old male front-seat passenger of the stolen car died at the scene.
The 28-year-old male driver of the stolen car reportedly spat at police and tried to flee the scene before being sedated and taken to hospital in a serious condition.
A 32-year-old female passenger in the rear of the stolen car remains in a critical condition.
Police said the Mitsubishi 4WD had been stolen from Toowoomba on Monday.
Officers tried to intercept it just before midnight on Tuesday but the driver sped away. Police chose not to pursue the vehicle.
A short time later the Mitsubishi smashed into Mr Islam’s hatchback.
An ambulance transporting a patient to hospital also narrowly avoided being involved in the collision.
Kedron Park officer-in-charge and critical care paramedic Matthew Meister said the crew was just 100 metres from the accident and watched it unfold.
“They could have been involved, that’s certain. We are very lucky more people were involved or hurt,” he said.
The crew was first on scene and called for immediate backup.
Eight crews involving some 20 paramedics were called to the scene.
