Josh Inglis set the stage with the bat and Jhye Richardson did the damage with the ball as Perth notched a dominant BBL win over an out-of-sorts Hobart at Bellerive Oval.
Inglis hit a career-best 73 from 46 on Monday night against the Hurricanes, as the Scorchers won by 77 runs, defending 7-175 to jump to third on the ladder.
Inglis shared a 109-run stand with skipper Mitch Marsh after Perth had fallen to 2-5 having been sent in.
Marsh continued his strong recent form with 40 from 29 and also chipped in with 1-14 with the ball.
Inglis hit four fours and four sixes, including a full-toss ramp which cleared the boundary behind the wicketkeeper, during his third BBL half-century of the summer.
Richardson (4-19) made early inroads, removing the dangerous Matthew Wade (3) and South African import David Miller (0) in the second over.
It’s been a horror tournament for star signing Miller, who has a highest score of 25 from his nine starts.
Marsh trapped Australian T20 representative Ben McDermott lbw for one in the ninth over in what was virtually the death knell for the Hurricanes.
They were all out for 98 in the 18th over.
Richardson returned late to pick up two tail-end scalps, as the Scorchers registered their third win on the trot.
The Hurricanes, finishing top of the table last season, have slumped to their third-straight loss and are ahead of only the winless Melbourne Renegades on the table.
Veteran George Bailey showed glimpses of his best, top scoring with 36 for the hosts but had little support, apart from Caleb Jewell (28) and Simon Milenko (19).
