Four people are dead after two aircraft collided mid-air at Mangalore, north of Melbourne.
Emergency services were called to two separate crash scenes east of the Mangalore airfield about 11:25am, police said in a statement.
Two occupants of each aircraft died at the scenes.
Aerial footage of the scene appears to show the wreckage of a light plane in a clearing, and what appears to be the wreckage of a second aircraft in bushland nearby.
Police, paramedics and firefighters are at the scene.
An air ambulance has also been sent.
