A man is accused of kidnapping another man who was bashed unconscious with a pistol and dumped in a shed in western Sydney in a failed multi-million dollar ransom bid.
Two men assaulted the 36-year-old man inside a St Marys workshop last November and unsuccessfully demanded $4 million for his release, NSW Police said in a statement on Tuesday.
The pair pistol-whipped the victim with a gun until he passed out before kidnapping him.
The 36-year-old man was found a day later with a fractured skull inside a shed at a nearby property by members of the public.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and has since been released.
Police arrested a 36-year-old man after raiding homes in Plumpton and Mt Druitt on Tuesday morning.
The man has been charged with kidnapping a person with intent to gain advantage, reckless grievous bodily harm and using an authorised pistol.
He will appear in Mt Druitt Local Court later on Tuesday.
