Sydney hotel quarantine worker has coronavirus

A person working in the hotel quarantine system in New South Wales has contracted the coronavirus.

The worker had had shifts at two Sydney hotels where returned overseas travellers were staying for their quarantine period.

NSW Health is contacting the person’s close contacts to arrange testing.

“The source of the new infection reported overnight is under investigation and urgent genome sequencing is underway,” the department said in a tweet.

The NSW government is expected to hold a press conference at 1pm on Sunday to detail what else they know so far about the case.

More to come.
