A second person linked to Brisbane’s Portuguese Family Centre has contracted COVID-19.
The 62-year-old man, who was at the Ellen Grove restaurant in Brisbane’s south-west on Saturday, told the ABC he returned a positive test result on Wednesday night.
He was identified as a close contact of a woman who flew into Australia from Portugal and visited the restaurant while unknowingly infectious.
The man told the ABC he has been in isolation and alerted health authorities when he developed symptoms on Wednesday.
He is being treated at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
The man said his wife had tested negative to COVID-19 but will be retested.
The new infection is the second case of community transmission linked to the exposure site, with another man who visited the Portuguese Family Centre testing positive earlier in the week.
